The name was later used for the team Star-Lord formed to deal with galactic-level threats in present day. The present day team's name was influenced by a member of the 31st century team who had time traveled to the present.

    Bendis is known for shock jock deaths in comics. Gamora, Drax, Groot....i can see a few going

    I'd say either Drax or Groot. Or it could be Groot but Rocket Raccoon has a twig or stick of Groot's, so he starts to regrow him. I believe that happened in a comic. Typically, I could see it being Drax going down like a badass. Groot would be a strange choice to have die.
