After Guardians of the Galaxy dominated the box office this past summer, everyone pretty much knew it was worthy of a sequel, which is great because a sequel was already given the go-ahead. During the phase three announcements from Marvel today, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was given a release date: May 5, 2017.

The team of space-heroes really won over people's hearts, even though one of the members of the team, voiced by Vin Diesel, could only say "I am Groot." It will most likely be the same team, but maybe we'll see some additions to the roster, like Carol Danvers, since there is going to be a Captain Marvel film as well?

We'll keep you updated on all the Marvel movie news. GotG2 comes out on May 5th, 2017.

Actually yeah it would be really cool to introduce Captain Marvel in GOTG2. I like your thinking.

@flazam: I'm hoping for Bug and Mantis. Bug seems more likely thought, since, IIRC, he was supposed to be apart of the first movie but was cut from the script last minute. Warlock/Magus could be interesting with Mantis there, since we could see the team get divided over what to do about their renegade friend (also, I'll never say no to more DnA-era Guardians goodness). Plus, Guardians would be taking place after Doctor Strange so magic is already introduced.

The movie is a must see for any CBM fans besides also being a great fun to watch.

I've read all of the Guardians of the Galaxy up until about ten years ago and all of the Thanos comics since his first appearance. I love Marvel Cosmic, but this movie was a straight up camp-fest, and not the good kind. I liked Green Lantern more than GOTG2. I liked the first one, for that matter.
