It seems the plot for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy may have been revealed -- or at least hinted at. The log line for the upcoming Marvel movie was displayed on Its On The Grid, a database dedicated to "cataloging information on the feature film development business." The entry for the Guardians of the Galaxy film reveals that the movie may be focusing on the space adventures of a U.S. pilot and a few of his friends.

About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.

So what U.S. pilot could they be referring to? Well, it could be a couple of different characters. Some question whether it is Vance Astro or his future counterpart, Major Victory, who was in the original team, which, we admit, would be pretty cool. However, as cool as the idea might seem, he wasn't a character that appeared in the Guardians of the Galaxy poster we saw premiere at Comic-Con as the movie is clearly focusing on the current incarnation.

The poster did, however, feature another pilot: Starlord; so there's a good chance that the log line could be referring to him. Starlord's real name is Peter Jason Quill, and in the comics he is a human-alien cyborg and a current member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Whether the film adaptation will stay true to the comic book character's origins remains to be seen, but what we do know is that he won't be alone. Starlord will be joined by Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer and Gamora, and they'll be embarking on a sic-fi, action adventure.

Seems a bit Green Lanterny ; but I'm in.

I'm very excited for this, I loved the comic and the characters but I really think it shows that Disney/marvel is up to producing films with lesser known characters and bringing them to the big screen. I think this is the film that will open doors for iron Fist, Dr.Strange, Ka-Zar, Namor and the like. Still not that obscure but I mean I still don;t see a Typeface movie in the making...unless I make one...hmm.

I'd have thought they might use Nova as a way to pull us into the cosmic side of Marvel, but I think they'd fear it reminding people of that cinematic abortion known as Green Lantern.

I'm no Guardians of the Galaxy expert but this seems interesting enough. It is a big gamble for Marvel though but if they can successfully tie Thanos and the cosmic side of Marvel into it, I'll be impressed.

just out of curiousity... how many times has marvel comics cancelled GOG or a similar cosmic based title due to poor readership? at moment marvel has no cosmic line right?

so why are they doing a movie about them (other then Disney want to have CGI talking raccoon to sell toys?)

The only place that raccoon belongs is on Davey Crocket's head! Until they use a more sensible roster with more interesting characters that don't look like some rejects from every cliched sci-fi movie, I couldn't care less for this.

Sounds like a good film, the idea that they are ex-con aliens (and a earth human) on the run in space reminds me of that show (which I never really watched so I could be wrong) Farscape.

I think I like that it is Starlord and his team, sounds more ... Well, I don't know much about the other team and their reasons for being a team. This team looks more cohesive and less random I guess.

I hope this movie succeeds where Green Lantern failed.

I want kids to love this movie (and a trigger-happy raccoon) so it gets bank and we get a whole slew of cosmic movies but I also want Gamora to be scantily clad and wrecking shop.

I'm dubious. I like Star Lord a lot, but we'll see.
