For those of you not reading this book, and from the sales there's a whole lot of people who aren't, you're missing out one of the true treats I look forward to every month.
The issue starts directly after the climactic battle between Vulcan and Black Bolt from War of Kings #6 and we see just how far reaching the consequences of that battle really are.
A gigantic tear in Space-Time, called the Fault, opens at the boundry of Kree/Shiar space thanks to the energies released by Black Bolt, Vulcan, and the T-Bomb (Terrigen Bomb as in weaponized Terrigen Mist for those not following War of Kings) and begins to expand exponentially swallowing and destroying everything in it's path, and then things start getting really bad.
DnA have planted so many seeds through out their run in controling the Cosmic side of the Marvel Universe that when you do finally see them come to fruition, about 90 bear fruit in this issue alone it seemed like, you immediately find yourself running back to see just how come you didn't see that coming.
The story is as always, perfectly paced, tons of humours dialouge thrown in along side intense action sequences, character work that is top notch, and just incredible art work Brad Walker and his inking/coloring crew.
Some of the highlights of this issue were Rocket Racoon's dialouge through out the issue as the situation continues to worsen, seeing a whole new side of Groot as him and Maximus try and find a solution to one of the many problems that arise from the formation of the Fault, the revelation of what Phyla Vel's promise to the Dragon of the Moon was, and what Adam Warlock's solution to the Fault actually entails.
To say that the end of the issue blew me away is phrasing it lightly, long time readers knew it was coming at some point, but seeing it exectuted so incredibly well and what the consequences, in theory, for the entire MU will be from this event was just breath taking.
This issue serves as a great jumping on point for anyone interested in trying the series out, you might have to do a little research here on the site to get caught up, but I think it's safe to say that this is a book that anyone could love, it's got a gun toating wise cracking Racoon as one if it's main characters for goodness sake.
So, if you're thinking of trying out a new book I highly recommend this one, and I hope this review convinces at least one person to check it out so they can see for themselves just how good a comic book can be.
