Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the package. We've been looking at various Hot Toys sixth scale figures. Those are great but unfortunately the cost can add up. This week, while we are looking at another Hot Toys figure from Sideshow Collectibles, it's in a different price range. Let's take a look at Little Groot.

This is a quarter scale figure. That means it stands about 4 3/4". It might seem a little small (check out the video above to see how it compares to my hands), but I think that's a good thing. I don't know about you, but sometimes I struggle with finding space to put everything on display. Little Groot is super cute but you might not necessarily need a big pot sitting on your desk. This quarter scale one is a nice fit.

There isn't a lot of articulation to this figure. There doesn't need to be. It comes with three different heads and his arms and upper body have some give to them so you can make some adjustments.

The first head has a bit of a serious look to it.

With just the slightest adjustment, you can really see the difference in his...body language.

The heads are easily interchangeable. The second head really changes the vibe of the character.

Using the third head and raising his arms, you can see he's practically ready to start dancing on your desk or table.

It's a really simple figure and that's a good thing. You don't have to worry about keeping track of a bunch of different hands or accessories. You have Little Groot and a choice of three heads.

The figure is available for pre-order through Sideshow Collectibles' website (click HERE). The figure is expected to ship between February and March and will cost you $44.99. This is the point we find out who the Hot Toys collectors are. There's a lot that goes into these figures and that's what you're paying for. Obviously it's not for everyone. But if you dig Groot, you will definitely dig this figure.

It was surprising we didn't see more Little Groot merchandise when Guardians of the Galaxy first came out. Apparently this was to avoid spoilers. With this one made by Hot Toys, you have an idea what to expect. It's a sturdy base/pot and it all weighs just a couple pounds.

$45 for that?! Its cool and all but it looks like a [decently crafted] toy that you could get from a Kids Meal.

@transformers1024: It's definitely way too much for a piece of plastic produced in China for less than 50 cents but I would see it as an investment in your happiness. This little fellow will cheer you up in no time.

I highly doubt this Groot figure cost anywhere near $45 to manufacture, and one would be foolish to purchase it for more than $15. Is there a lot of detail in the roots or something?

There is an excellent statue of baby groot for £70, i will be getting that instead i think.

It's amazing how many people are unaware of Hot Toys' quality. Some expect everything for nothing.

I love this but $45 is a bit too much

$45 bucks is a steal for anything from the hot toys brand. If i was a big groot fan, id jump on this in a heart beat. Hell nowadays hasbro marvel legends are sometimes priced at close to $30 bucks and they don't have half of The detail in them compared to this.

I feel the same about Sideshow's Premium Format figures. I have several in my apartment, and when I tell friends I dropped $350-$400 on each they act like it's the most absurd thing ever. Yet they continue to drool over them...

Uncanny Valley right there. It might be cheap compared to most Hot Toys but I'm going to pass.

I'm still amazed that there aren't any licensed dancing Groot figures that actually dance.

There's a million and a half cheap dancing flowers/ mascots/ coke cans out there, a Groot one would be a license to print money.

This is the sweetest thing ever. I was lucky enough to get a vinyl Groot bobble head (POP! Marvel) in an EB Games store, and I make him dance and dance and dance.
