Groot Is an alien known by the Kree as a Floral Colossus, though this species was once thought extinct. He was recruited/apprehended by the Howling Commandos, despite his abilty to hide in plain site by looking like a tree, because he smells nothing like a tree. He is currantly on Hala, as part of a team led by Peter Quill, AKA: Starlord, on a suicide mission to stop a mass-assimilation weapon being developed by the Phalanx Covenant. How Groot got out of SHIELD custody and into Kree space is unknown.
