Grigori Rasputin is the man who summoned Hellboy to Earth. Edit
Rasputin was sold his soul for immortality. On the end of Word War II, Rasputin was the one who must call out a "key" from Hell (HellBoy) on Earth by a conduction a mistical ritual. Ritual was succsessfuly done, but after all goes wrong and Hellboy was get in hands of Allies.
But Rasputin is not leave a attempts to back a "Key" at the way he intend for it and make him finaly open a gate of Hell...
Origin
The character of Mignola is taken from real historical person (G.E.Rasputin. Russian mistic and important politician figure of the end of XIX and beginning of a XX centuries. Year of birth is unknown, it's various from 1869 to 1872, year of death- 1916), but, obviously, have no much likeness with him, except maybe a beard.
