Costumed James Bond Without the Camp 0

The Good: CAFU's art is just great as usual. The coloring is excellent, giving it some excellent realistic depth, and the action scenes are an interesting middle balance of dynamism that is subtle enough to work well. I love love LOVE the way the issue title is drawn. Subtle and creepy, integrated into the artwork perfectly for maximum effect. Definitely one of the best depictions of an issue title I've ever seen. This issue does a very good job at establishing Grifter's talents. His suave natur...

Grifter is STILL the man! 1

(No Spoilers)Another Wildstorm character makes his debut in the DCU and this time it’s my main man, Grifter! It’s been 14 years since Grifter last had a solo title so for this fan this has been a long time coming. The first thing to point out here that I think will grab people’s attention is that this Grifter title lends itself more to the feel of titles like Wildcats Vol. 2 and Wildcats: Version 3.0. Those two titles came out during a time when Wildstorm was going for a more real world feel than...

A Pure Introduction Issue. But It's A Good One... 0

"Grifter" was one of the new ongoing series to spawn from DC's New 52 relaunch that I was most excited about. He is a fantastic character and in the right hands he could be a major player in the DC Universe. "Grifter" #1  is written by Nathan Edmondson, better known for his work through Image comics, and it's every bit a launching point. The story features many of the good things you need when introducing a character but also is handcuffed by some of the same restrictions of an introduction iss...

    Disordered minutes! 0

This is a little slow of an introduction in my opinion and you really can't judge whether this book is good or not without the next issue or two. it introduced the character, the setting, villains, and secondary story well enough, The dialogue and art was all well done. There are 2 problems with this book though... There is a possible editor miss on an important point in the story. If it's not a miss then we're left with more of the 2nd problem...The book jumps around from current to past to a li...

There's Something in Her Eye 1

DC succeeds with its second Wildstorm immigrant series Grifter in a back to basics approach that may surprise those expecting it to be a gun-blazing, action story from the start. This issue is instead a slow-burn origin story that eases readers in and doesn't expect any prior Wildstorm knowledge from them. The New 52 is having a way of playing with my expectations. When it came to the Wildstorm books, I expected good things from Stormwatch and to be underwhelmed by solo titles for Grifter and Voo...

It is all about "Cash". 2

It is all about "Cash" and we are introduced to the "Grifter" who is set to start taking our cash.  With Wildstorm now being part of the DCU, the Wildstorm characters are slowing making their way into the same universe of Superman and Batman.  The issue to start the who 52 off was the Justice League of America issue where we see the world presented in a more "real" feel where we do not trust the metahumans and that is why this comic has that feel that is it a Wildstorm book over a DC book.  Are ...

The Story: Cash Cole hears voices on a plane and attempts to exit it mid-air. My Thoughts:I know absolutely nothing about the Grifter. I've never read anything with him in it. I've heard good things about him and thought he looked pretty cool so I decided to pick up this issue. It's written by Nathan Edmonson, a writer I'm not familiar with either. The issue centers around Cole Cash (Grifter) as he's on a plane and begins hearing voices. He comes of as a schizophrenia. The action was pretty cool...

Grifter DC reboot 1st issue 0

honestly i am fairly new to grifter, but it seemed that this comic was really good. it still couldve have been much better though, but to be fair i feel that way about the majority if not all of the dc 52 reboot. It started and i was lost, then when it went to "earlier" it really took a while to pick up again. i really did enjoy the story though. It was amazing actually, even with that i'm kinda depressed that it wasnt as great as i could have imagined....

I waited in San Juan 1

I come to this series as a complete outsider to the character.  I know nothing of him other than he had a prominent role in Flashpoint (which I didn’t read).  To be fair though I think a lot of people reading this issue would be in the same position as myself as the character, and with that being said I think they did a pretty good job of introducing him.  The issue starts off right away with some intrigue with an incident on a plane and then shows a few flashbacks to indicate that there is some...
