When things fall apart in the world of Grendel, they fall fast -- and hard! Albert's vigilante acts against the Grendels have caused their order to unravel; as chief of the Grendels, Hack must stop Albert or lose control of the clan -- a decision complicated by the fact that Hack is in love with Albert's mother, Dana; and Dana's relationship with Albert is about to fall apart because of her affection for Hack. Which is more important to Hack -- his status or his love for Dana? And which is more important to Dana -- her son or her lover?
