Brian and Regina talk on the phone. They haven't seen Christine since she left to kill Riley; Regina goes off to find her. The police show up and bring Brian to Argent and Wiggins. They interrogate him. Brian has had enough and gets right back in their faces.
Regina finds Chris at home, asleep. She lies and says she was out talking to a lawyer.
Brian realizes that the reason they're holding him is to search his place, but he has nothing to hide. He continues to taunt them, and they get angry.
Regina and Christine continue to talk. Christine describes her time as Grendel as feeling more in control, "raging against the tide" of social and police inertia. Grendel brings her initiative.
They go to Ginny's place, which has been ransacked by the cops. Regina breaks down in tears. Finally Chris has had all she can take. All her friends are being turned into victims. She will use her initiative and do something about it. (Of course, they're being turned into victims because of her illegal vigilantism and mass murders, which she has not tried to justify to the police, so it is in some ways her fault, but the insidiously aggressive nature of Grendel is blinding her.)
She goes to Brian's for one last time. He has just been released by Argent.
