I love Rucka. Great guy, great writer. And you can see how humble he is in this interview. I've never been able to actually get into Detective Comics with Batwoman, I never liked the character, but I have to admit that the book has been amazing. The art is just breath-taking, and Rucka does an excellent job on defining the character. The whole "lesbian Bat-family member" he mentions was sadly a HUGE obstacle to overcome (yeah, still everybody makes a fuzz about a gay character, whatever), but he managed to make it part of the character, not just something added to it for the sake of generating controversy.
It's a pity he is leaving DC. Amazingly, if I'm not mistaken, he's been working exclusively for them for three years... even though his exclusiveness contract was already over for all that time. Seeing that he likes working at DC, let's just hope this is a brief "be right back" ;)
