Green Power Ring

Object » Green Power Ring appears in 1860 issues.

The power ring of a Green Lantern is the source of power and a badge of authority for almost every member of the Green Lantern Corps. It is fueled by willpower.

Can a Green Lantern ring warp reality?

This is a question which bugged for a time and I want your opinions about it.

warp reality how so?

Like turn a pencil into a bunny? or make a concrete wall into gold?

A green lantern ring does not have the power to do those things ^.

I have seen it however change a persons genetic makeup temporarily. But that was wayyyyy back in the day.

Yeah, it's hard to answer this question because of the new 52. So far Hal's ring just shows the ability to make constructs, fly, shield him, etc. Even pre-reboot, I only recall the hosts of the entities(Kyle as Ion, Hal/Kyle as Parallax, etc.) being the closest to being able to alter reality. The only ring that has the potential to do so is a white lantern ring(still not sure if it counts as reality warping). The green lantern ring, IIRC, cannot alter reality.

No.
For 71 years, it has never been used to alter reality. It just can't.

If molecular manipulation counts.

But there are little feats for them.

In some scans I have seen Hal Jordan turn bullets into flowers and nuclear missiles into snow if that counts.

That is just incorrect. Early GA stories featuring Alan Scot had him doing just about anything with his ring. He could matter manipulate (turned gold into paper so it wouldn't hurt him), size alter (he even made himself as small as an atom). One of his early regular enemies was Wotan who was also an enemy of Dr fate

He also made Doiby's taxi come to life and act of it's own will, made gun barrels tie their owners, and plenty more that would be considered reality warping. In the SA in a JLA/JSA crossover with earth S as well his ring did much of what Ibis's stick did (also magic reality warping). There were also early instances of time manip.

@SithLantern93: Hal Jordan use to be able to use the ring to produce kryptonite out of nothingness. I suppose that could be considered low level reality warping.

Also, when Hal absorbed the central power battery and became Parallax for first time he was a reality warper of the highest order, able to destroy the entire universe infinite times over and recreate it. So you could say that the energies powering the rings are indeed capable of warping reality when given sufficient power.

Those are nice feats and could you please post the feats of Alan you mentioned if you find them.

I heard rumors that lantern energy can even recreate universes so it is like the gods.

Reality Warping? No! But molecular manipulation yes. Those two things are so similar that folks get them confused... And John Stewart tried to rebuild a planet with his ring but that exceeded the capabilities of his ring.
