I was wondering the same thing a few weeks ago. Or a month or so, but whatever! I'd say Rebirth. It's all about the return of Hal Jordan, has amazing art, a great story... You get a lot of information in the beginning and it will be a bit hard to understand, but after a while you will get some flashbacks that makes a lot of it understandable. If you like it and want to read more (which you want to, for sure!), this link might come in handy:

Thanks for that handy list, Smash! I've already ordered the Rebirth and No Fear TPBs. Wish they'd hurry up and get here.

Though my friends have started reading in various places (Blackest Night, GL: Rebirth, The Sinestro Corps War) I think a really really solid starting place for the unitiated is Green Lantern: Secret Origin.

This is a great way to prime you for the other stories, establishing the major players in the GL cannon (currently) and setting up some of the later stories (Blackest Night, Senistro Corps War, etc)

But, honestly, there's a lot to love and reading out of order won't ruin the enjoyment, but may "spoil" some surprises.

I'm not against the idea of reading out of order, although a good order to read in is nice. I just want a really good, solid place to start. I'm going with Rebirth and then No Fear, since I already have them ordered anyway. Rebirth should be here tomorrow! Anticipation.

I read Agent Orange and Darkest day tales of the Corps (due to my libary having those graphic novels in stock) and they where brilliant books.

As for the new 52 range I'm going to start collecting from issue 12, the annual and number 0.
