I'm just wondering what this will be all about.  Geoff Johns shared a tidbit on Twitter.  Hopefully, the little blue boys will be taken out of the picture for awhile.  Quite a few possibilities battered around in that article.  I just hope The New Guardians won't be involved. ;)

When the GLC discovered the Guardians were missing from Oa, Vath commented that there were "eight black splotches of goop" but there were nine Guardians on Oa.  Ganthet and Sayd are not included in that number.  At that time in the story, the total was then eleven Guardians.  Scar is now dead, so that leaves the total presently at ten Guardians of the Universe.  But, there is that one Guardian whose heart was ripped out by Scar.  I'm not sure if that would kill a Guardian so the number could be at nine.
 
All members of all the Corps are different species.  "Oans" are the descendants of Maltusians and are represented by the Guardians, the Zamarons, and the Controllers.  Apparently, the rings of all the Corps are derived from Oan technology; in effect, giving the Guardians the capacity to head all the different Corps themselves.
