I know what my problem is. It's not my devastating good looks, nor is it my inexplicable crying whenever I hear "It's a Small World."
It's my expectations for "Blackest Night."
I need to stop visualizing "Blackest Night" as some physical object that has velocity, moving steadily towards a conclusion.
This ride is going to have a ton of rest stops along the way and if I'm going to enjoy it I need to accept that or just be miserable with all the tie-ins for months to come.
So here's my first step: Acceptance. I accept that this story will not be as progressive as I thought. I accept that here and there I'll come across an issue that doesn't push the story forward as I expected it to.
I accept that I'll have to deal with this retarded Indigo Tribe until this event is over with.
I feel better already.
This issue belonged to Sinestro. There's some great character development for him when he finally confronts Mongul (and even though I saw it coming I was still super fucking stoked with how Sinestro booked him a one way ticket to slab city). Sinestro just owns.
In all fairness I shouldn't call it character development.
We all know what Sinestro is like. He stands there with his arms crossed and lets his will do the work. He has a militant arrogance that radiates from him and he's earned that arrogance. He's feared for a reason.
What this issue does is re-establish how much of a bad ass Sinestro is.
Anyway, some other stuff happens.
Hal finally encounters Carol Ferris as a Star Sapphire and they banter on about some crap.
We're also given some cliff notes on how to destroy a black ring.
I was under the impression that only the Indigo light can disrupt a black ring as long as another color was involved but Hal explains that any two colors working together can disrupt a black ring and once it's been disrupted it can be shattered.
So I was actually kind of thankful for that clarification.
It also makes the Indigo light something like a utility knife since they can create whatever color they want. Assholes.
Reminds me of the Birds of Paradise from MTGā¦
