    Theres Been A Murder

    The Story:

Guy Gardner has been serving his punishment of twelve months worth training new lanterns with no shore leave. He wants to take a vacation but before he can, he is ordered to track down the person responsible for the murder of a fellow lantern.

    My Thoughts:

The story is written by Dave Gibbons, who also drew some of the issues. The series centers around members of the Green Lantern Corps. While Guy Gardner and Killowog were the only lanterns I was familiar with, I found this story to be very enjoyable especially since it involves reading about other Green Lanterns who I can become familiar with.

A troubled rookie lantern named Soranik Natu abandons her partner who gets murdered. Guy Garnder must track down the one responsible for the lanterns death which results in a shocking surprise. This story was great for other, less popular lanterns to take the spotlight. Guy Gardner, the most popular among them does tend to overshadow the rest, but the upcoming Green Lanterns seem like they could stand out in the future and play a more dominant role.

Dave Gibbons attempted to add a little comedy into the comic during the part where Guy Gardner takes a vacation. That particular issue was funny, but the villain named Bolphunga (who I'm not familiar with) seemed extremely mediocre and a joke of a character.

The art is by Patrick Gleason and Dave Gibbons. This isn't the best art I've seen while reading a Green Lantern comic, but it is nicely done. I preferred Gibbons style to Gleason's, but they're so similar you can barely tell the difference.

This is a nice beginning to the series that delivers a lot of fun and action. While nothing exceedingly major happened, it's still a fun and enjoyable read for all Green Lantern comic fans.

    Rating: 3.5/5
