Return of Cyborg Superman
The Storyline:
As John Stewart is on the verge of becoming one of Cyborg Supermans Alpha Lanterns, its up to Kyle Rayner to save John from the clutches of Cyborg Superman. How Cyborg Superman returned and what events took place during Blackest Night would all be explained in this issue.
The Good:
- I can't say much for the storyline itself because this is the only issue I got out of the Revolt of the Alpha Lanterns storyline, there ups and downs that Ive found with it so far. In this issue, its more of a breif history of Cyborg Superman and where he has been during the Blackest Night event. More like the stereotype villain talk before taking any action or killing off the hero, however, it is John Stewart who is listening to Cyborg Superman. A Green Lantern that almost gave Cyborg Superman what he wanted, which is his death.
-The artwork was very good and detailed, I like the effort and attention put into it and how it kept with the flow of the comic.
The Bad:
- I felt that Ganthets involvement should have been taken out, for some reason I felt like it was the whole Yoda fighting thing happening when we see him fighting Cyborg Superman.
- I dont like how the beginning of the issue it doesn't give a brief history of what has been happening in the recent issues, I had to do some research to understand whats been happening in order to fully understand this issue.
- Even though I like a brief history in a comic, but I also like action scenes as well and this issue barely has any at all.
The Ugly:
None
Conclusion:
Let me be honest with you
This issue actually deserves a 3 1/2 out of 4 star rating because theres less action in this comic, and action is something I would expect from a Green Lantern title.
So the reason why I gave it a 4 star rating is because of how much of a Cyborg Superman fan I am, believe me, im a huge fan of this mechanical nutjob. I know exactly why he's still going around looking like a mechanical blended Superman and on the quest for death and destruction.
I wouldn't suggest picking this issue up unless your a huge Cyborg Superman fan like me. But as a Green Lantern fan I feel that you may find yourself disappointed in a way. This issue is only focused on the brief history of Cyborg Superman so DC fans would understand who this guy is in a way.
Its up to you if you want to pick it up or not, it is good in a way, but it also lacks the mindless Green Lantern action that many fans love to see. But who knows, its only the third issue out of a continuing storyline and it may get better in a way.
If you dont know who Cyborg Superman is, I made this video explaining as much as I could on why he's one of my favorite villains and possibly grow his popularity with the comic readers.
