amberlove's Green Lantern Corps #26 - Ring Quest Part 5 review

    Bittersweet

    Here's a wonderful rendition of the David and Goliath tale. Tomasi took the wee Bzzd, the tiniest of Green Lanterns and pitted him against Mongul who is practically immortal. The story was so well done and a great conclusion. Though it is sad, there are moments of relief as the Sinestro Corps villains get torn apart, blasted, and devoured by a living planet. The Mercy has a change of heart and a there's a new beginning for her.

    One of the highlights is the double page spread where the Green Lanterns are trapped by the black mercy “children” (seedlings). Each GL in the story has to face his or her worst nightmare in the dreamlike state caused by the black mercy. It’s where any reader would be thinking, “Please don’t let that happen!”

    Very well written.

      This story arc finishes here and it finishes almost perfectly.  The previous two issues were the best this series has seen, and with that lead-in this one does not disappoint.  With the Lanterns trapped by the modified black mercies (modified to create fear not elation) the Lanterns seem to be without any hope as Mongul returns and forces Mother Mercy to consume them.  After last issue's explanation of who Mother Mercy is though, it becomes obvious that she is not in league with him.  This is an...
