crimsonavenger's Green Lantern Archives #1 - Volume 1 review

A good collection of stories but a pricy collection

In 1959 John Broome and Gil Kane created Hal Jordan, the most popular of all the Green Lanterns. I liked the stories featuring Hal Jordan but I've always preferred Alan Scott as Green Lantern. It's fun to read these stories fun from the Silver-Age, since we didn't know much about the galaxy writers could create these worlds filled with all sorts of strange creatures and pseudo-science. While we don't get to see Hal fight his classic enemies such as Sinestro, Goldface, or Star Sapphire. He mostly fights aliens, I think gangsters though I may be mistaken, and I believe mad scientists, just goes to show how far we've come in storytelling.

I like Gardner Fox and his work with Green Lantern was good but I think I still prefer his work with Carter Hall/Hawkman and of course where would Hal Jordan be if it weren't for the art of Gil Kane.

The Green Lantern Archives are a good collection, it has more stories than the Green Lantern Chronicles  and is in hardcover but the drawback is the price, I mean I like a decent collection but I think these DC archive editions are a little overpriced.

Overall The Green Lantern Archives Volume 1 is good but go with the GL Chronicles Vol.1, it's cheaper.
