The Green Lantern Takes Desperate Measures in The Blackest Night 1

The Blackest Night continues to shock and terrify the DC universe in this intense 50th issue of Geoff John's Green Lantern.  The book picks up in the battle-ravaged Coast City as our team of Lanterns, deputy Lanterns, guardians, and other allies, heroes and villains alike, fight for survival against the growing forces of the Black Lantern Corp.  Their biggest problem is the possessed Spectre who is battling most of the team single-handedly.  Hal Jordan knows they're running out of time and he ne...

    Blackest Night 6.5? 1

So with this anniversary issue we see Hal Jordan's response to Ganthet bringing in "honorary" inductees into all the Corps.  Throughout the issue we see the various interactions between these honorary members and the Corps respected leaders.  Most are welcome by their leaders.  One isn't.  I'll give you one guess on who doesn't want to share their power.   Moving on, the Spectre makes his grand appearance and seems to almost be beaten the same way most of the other Black Lanterns have been.  Alm...

    Guardians Unleashed. 1

Overall i really enjoyed this issue. It does a great job with taking what happened in Blackest Night 6 and furthering the story of this event along. The art in this was beautiful, as was the coloring, with a wonderful job done of both battle sequences (of which there are plenty) and character moments. The interaction between the different Lanterns, the Leaders and their new recruits was Priceless.  While it opens with a shot of all of them together, it quickly runs through how each respective Co...

    Desperate Times Call for...Parallax 1

Fifty issues for a run is a milestone. For over four years, Geoff Johns has taken Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps into new heights. Geoff's come in with a long-term plan and has had the control to shape this universe as he sees fit.      The story has shifted from the shock-and-awe of the Black Lanterns to the New Guardians and their deputies. I appreciate the views of each different Corps, but wish each Deputy had a one-shot - especially Mera. Mera's been one of the rising stars of ...

    Getting that feeling 0

SO Mera says she never wanted to have a child right to dead aquaman face. That was stunning. However what gets me is the fact how Carol, Carol who is just in the star sapphire suit and not star sapphire charecters itself saying that even though Hal Jordan and her are not together as a couple that she loves him after what I consider a now famous kiss. The reason for this of course is that to saw the galaxy Hal Jordan must reunite with Paralax who has caused Hal so much guilt as it destroyed in Ha...

    you will be judged 0

There is no reason for me to review now other than I just want to review this issue, if you have not read this by now you should smack your self. The art is just fantanstic Doug Mahnke is arguably the best artest for the green lantern series. and the green lantern mythos has come full circle. I just hope that they include this the graphic novel version of blackest night it is really true you could re-name this one Blackest night 6.5...

They kiss! Oh and, God help us all 0

SPOILER WARNING! First off, I can't believe that this is Jim Lee's artwork.  After seeing him work his magic in Batman: Hush and All-Star Batman and Robin, I find it hard to believe that he did this.  Not saying that this isn't good, it is.  It's just I've seen him do better.  Anyway, moving along.  First off, I just want to say that I love the idea of the Deputy Lanterns.  So much, in fact, that I really think that Barry Allen should remain a Blue Lantern and Scarecrow a Sinestro Corps Officer....

    Back into the fire 0

In the overall sequence of Blackest Night, this issue comes towards the end, but it is just as well.  The story arc has lost a little bit of momentum with some of the recent developments but it gets it back here in full force.  With the heroes still assembled in Coast City and battling the Black Lanterns, one particularly large and powerful Black Lanters has to be dealt with - the Spectre.  It is decided that the only way to deal with him head on is to unleash the power of Parallax, but who will...
