tales of the marine corps 0

This issue was a little dissapointing it just seamed like a way for the writers to say "here's John see we do care about him." it does not even try to futher the plot of blackest night in the green lantern story it does however give a back story of John when he was in the marine corps (not throughout the whole issue). The action scenes (though few) are kinda nice this issue did a good job of making John a bad ass but it still felt like an unnessary story. My bigest problem with the whole story ...

Not exactly what I expected. 0

Well,Im glad John Stewart gets his own issue,as theyve sorta been hinting at giving him the spotlight in the last couple issues. I am a huge John fan,but this isn't exactly what I was hoping for. What we do get is mostly random Black Lanterns fighting him.  Sadly, the only two i recognized were Driq and Katma Tui. The issue didn't really have much of a cliffhanger, but at least the art was ok. I actually enjoyed the backup tale more than the main story,I love the sorta banter bewtween The Atom and...

Flash backs and Draw backs 0

So the Green Lantern title takes a break from all the crazily coloured antics that are going on with Hal Jordan and the rest of the Rainbow Rodeo. Instead in this issue we get to see the reaction of John Stewart to the resurrection of Xansi, the planet he failed to save from destruction and the home world to his also deceased long lost love Katma Tui.  I generally have a problem when a title takes a break from the action to deal with one character and their goings on. Some may recall my revi...

    Move on...and move out 0

Taking a quick detour from the action, the story shifts to Green Lantern John Stewart, who stumbles upon an army of Black Lanterns led by his now very nasty undead wife Katma Tui.  Overwhelmed, outnumbered, outgunned, and outmatched; John finally comes to terms with his failure to save Xanshi and pulls off a truly badass move of creating an army of green energy soldiers before making a run for it.  It's also worth mentioning that we get to see John's past as a Marine (which was an idea they firs...

    A Welcome Detour 0

While reading through the entire Blackest Night story arc of Green Lantern this issue stood out to me. It was not about Hal Jordan, but instead about John Stewart. While nothing to move the overall Blackest Night story happened we got a closer look at the backstory of John. We see him deal with and overcome his inner fears and its an interesting journey. We see him as a soldier where you get  closer look at his character and motivation. He battles some Black Lanterns by creating an army of ...

    Always faithful 0

This issue feels a little rattled compared to the remainder of the issues surrounding Blackest Night.  The problem here is not the stories per se.  The stories themselves are fine if a little short on action and depth.  In the first John Stewart has to deal with an all out assault of the reanimated people of Xanshi.  In the second the Atom and Hera are faced with Jean who is trying to give them a lesson in what Nekron is.  Both are adequate but where the story lacks here is that it is letting th...

    John Stewart Special 0

This isssue is a standout, it's not perfect far from it actually but I give credit to focusing on a truly interesting character. let's just be honest there are few moments where John Stewart gets to shine he pretty much rides the bench eventhough he's an incredible character. In this issue you see the difference in John what makes him more than a supporting character but what makes him one of the best comic books characters around, an unbelieveble level of realism....
