    Only ever hated yourself

This issue pretty much has it all - good writing, well paced action and significant plot developments - but where it falls short of being truly monumental is that it co-opts itself to the upcoming crossover instead of making its own statement.  There is again a repeated switch back and forth between the conversation of Hal and Larfleeze and the action happening on the surface of the planet, but again the real weight of the issue here is in the conversation between the two, which hasn't gone exactly how Larfleeze thought it might after seizing the blue ring at the end of the previous issue.   To be honest the blue ring which was attached to Hal until he hoped for something genuine was kind of anticlimactic with what actually got the ring off his fingers but the resolution to the battle scene as well as the epilogue only helped to provide a great deal of momentum heading into Blackest Night.
