    The end

Spoiler free (there will be warnings when there are some)

For me, this was the perfect ending to Geoff Johns' incredible run. Sadly there were a few problems of continuity that I cannot deny.

    The good:

There is so much good that I don't know where to begin. The art was wonderful. Doug Mahnke worked really hard to give us 55 beautiful pages. Something else that I really liked is that at the end you get 11 pages drawn by other artists who worked on Green Lantern projects during Johns' run. This comic book reminded me of Blackest Night and Brightest Day because it reunites so many different characters that we haven't seen a lot in the New 52 Green Lantern title like Atrocitus, Saint Walker, Larfleeze and others that I won't spoil. Something else that I liked is that Geoff Johns really ended the whole Green Lantern story that he's been building for nine years. I will explain. At the end of the book, he put an epilogue where we learn the fates every main character. This epilogue appears to end the Green Lantern universe. Still, that is not a good reason to quit writing Green Lantern stories. Something else that I liked, but that has nothing to do with the story, is the physical construction of the book. It is not stapled but bound, and has a double page cover. It looks like a small graphic novel. There were also only eight advertisements: two random, and six Green Lantern related. What replaced the ads were commentaries by other artist, writers, etc... about Johns' run. Also, there are a lot of great plot twists in this issue. I cannot give more details or that would be spoiling.

    This was a great read.

    The bad:

Sadly there were a few bad things. It is understandable knowing that Johns only had 65 pages to end such a big thing.

There are a few panels where the art isn't that great. The comic didn't really explain Volthoom's origin, but did explain how he became the First Lantern. Spoiler Warning : I will be talking about the story. If you do not wish to know what happens, go directly to the verdict. Hal Jordan, talking about the First Lantern, says:

We kill him and it'll start a chain reaction that could destroy our universe! The emotional spectrum needs to be expelled from is body.

First, how does he know that, and second, why can he do it so easily? Because of his Black ring? It's a bit weird. After that, Hal Jordan gets a Green Lantern ring. For some reason that gets rid of his Black Lantern ring and brings him back to life. That's wrong, only White Lantern rings can give life. At the end, Sinestro reunites Ganthet and Sayd. That is impossible, because Sayd died in Green Lantern New Guardians Number 15. To prove that she was really dead, it was written: 'Guardian Deceased'. If she somehow managed to survive, they should have mentioned it. Maybe that was just Tony Bedard's mistake? Also, I don't think I can consider this bad, but I was expecting some Tyler Kirkham art since he drew many Green Lantern titles.

    The verdict:

Definitely pick this up. It's a must have for any Green Lantern fan or someone who would want to witness the end of an incredible run. Great story, great art, it is a bit expensive, but worth your money!

Pick this up! I give it 4 on 5 stars.

Wrath of the First Lantern ends with one of the most exciting, jaw-dropping and glorious single issues of all time. The issue explodes with mind-blowing moments and stunning art, topped with a beautiful, powerful and touching ending told from the future. Lanterns of every single colour of the Emotional Spectrum were involved, and the appearance of Nekron and Parallax only made this issue even more thrilling and epic. Geoff Johns ends his Green Lantern run with an unforgettable classic that is th...

SPOILERS.You have been warned! What is there to say about Geoff Johns' 9-year run that hasn't already been said? Green Lantern #20 brings the curtain down on an amazing story that was started by Johns way back in 2004. This issue, for me, was possibly the best last-issue that any author could hope to write. To many, 'Wrath of the First Lantern' has been rather hit-and-miss. Personally, I don't really care much for Simon Baz (as I have hardly seen him since his introduction), and my interest in thi...
