    Green Lantern #19

    The Good

There are two artist on this issue with very different styles, but the way the story is set up, they are allowed to work together in the best possible way. Ardian Syaf does a great job at showing the action that is needed in this issue. This includes drawing Sinestro fighting the First Lantern and a two page spread that features something that will affect characters for a long time. Then we have Szymon Kudranski who's style fits right in at the Dead Zone. The darkness and the brightness really creates a tone. Geoff Johns is wrapping up his long run on Green Lantern and this issue does a great job at leading to a huge finale. Sinestro has really grown uder Johns and that is clear in this issue. We get to see Sinestro really react to the situation he is put in and it's written with such emotion that you feel for this character who has been label a villain for so long. This issue also has a very brave Hal Jordan in it. Hal is trying to get out of The Dead Zone so he can help save the world from the First Lantern. The end of this issue is unbelievable. It creates a lot of problems that are going to make for a fantastic final issue under Johns.

    The Bad

There are a lot of characters in this book and at times, some of them get a little lost in all the action and craziness that is going on. This isn't horrible, but we leave characters hanging with plots that need to be resolved quickly so the final issue is jammed pack with reveal after reveal.

    The Verdict: 4/5 (Good)

Geoff Johns has done a lot for Green Lantern, and it's easy to see that he enjoys working on the character. It's been hard to see Hal not being in complete control of what he wants to do, but it also gives us the same hero, just under a different light. I highly recommend that you read this. If you haven't been keeping up with the series, this isn't a good place to jump on. If you have, then you are in for some shocks that will lead to a great final issue.
