    Green Lantern #14 Review

Green Lantern #14 is another great issue in the series. This seems to be holding its own with Hal Jordan and Sinestro temporarily gone as Simon Baz takes the spotlight. So its almost certain that Baz will be the main Green Lantern in the rest of the Rise of the Third Army story arc.

The Story: Baz is still trying to figure out why he became a Green Lantern and why he got framed for being a terrorist. In the last issue, the Justice League were sent out by the President and this issue picks up with the confrontation. Meanwhile the Guardians are still in the process of eliminating the Lantern Corps. We also get a hint of what kind of person the First Lantern is and the danger behind his power. There is also another small hint of where Hal and Sinestro could be. If you put the pieces together from everything since the Annual, it you sort of could guess where they are (plus if you read the solicitations from the future GL issues, it tells pretty much tells you where they are).

The Good: I really enjoy how the dialogue and questioning between both Baz and the Justice League. There were some great banter that fit the tone of this issue. It wasn't overtop or unnecessary. The development of Simon Baz and his sister, Sira is very heartfelt and makes you like his character even more as an underdog. Doug Mahnke did a great job in the art for the Justice League. Some people may not think that his art is par with Jim Lee's, but it he really does great action scenes.

The Bad: It feels like the Guardians plan to unleash the Third Army is being dragged out slowly. The execution of their plan is written and drawn out in an anti-climatic way. Don't get me wrong, I get from the reading that they are extremely dangerous, but its not being showcased in the hyped way that DC advertised it to be. Also as much as it was great to get more interaction with the First Lantern, it just feels like we should know more by now. Again I get how Geoff Johns is focusing more in developing Baz's character so its hard to fit so many things in one issue, but its been 3 issues since the zero issue.

Overall: The Green Lantern series has flown tremendously well and fluid since issue #1. Like every issue so far, this is no exception to miss at all. 4.5/5

I have really been enjoying this series since it started just over a year ago, and have enjoyed John's run prior to that. The work Johns has done in the Green Lantern Universe over the last 8 years has been phenomenal and he's made the lead character shine throughout, whether it be Hal or Baz. The series over the years has also had amazing artists and Mahnke has been one of the best.PlotThis issue sees the Guardians continue plotting their scheme to remove all emotion from the universe. Exciting, action-packed and suspenseful, Green Lantern continues to impress issue after issue. As the Third Army continues to wreak chaos across the universe, we see our newest Green Lantern, Simon Baz, get confronted by the Justice League. The art in this issue is brilliant, and I love how this comic shows us every character's situation: Black Hand stuck in the Chamber of Shadows, Simon Baz on the run from the Justice League and the Guardians of the Universe hatching their evil plans to destroy ...
