jloneblackheart's Green Hornet: Legacy #34 review

Legacy

First let me say, I was worried this was going to get cancelled after the new Mark Waid Green Hornet (great first issue by the way). With the title change, it seems this might keep going since the change was probably to avoid confusion.

So in this issue, Britt finally wakes up from his coma, only to arrive to help the Green Hornet 2.0 with a new group of super villains.

I will say this issue seemed rushed for some reason (again, hoping it's not cancellation). There is a lot I have been wondering about since the Green Hornet 2.0 arc began. Obviously, Britt is not going to be to keen on Jeffery killing criminals. Will Jeffery be apologetic or (as we see on the cover), will this bring the Hornets to blows with one another? I have mixed feelings because I was really enjoying Jeffery as Scowl, but not liking the murderous GH 2.0. Also, how is Clutch going to fit in, seeing how he is assisting Jeffery in his extreme vigilantism? I guess we will have to see how this pans out after the battle.

The book is becoming a superhero book at this point, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. These new villains seem interesting, and they come off unique, instead of the same old things. I like that they are trying to keep the powers semi-grounded, despite this becoming a superhero book. I especially don't have a problem with a more futuristic approach now that we have the other GH series to be more of a crime genre.

I was excited to read this book. Since I read very few comics these days, some of the greats are usually at the top of my pile, with this series reaching peaks and valleys in my reading order. It's been at the top lately, so they are definitely sparking my interest.

I'd probably give this a 3.5, but since we can't do half stars it gets an extra 0.5 for the awesome (yet misleading) cover.
