Dizzy little story
Spoilers, maybe, I'm not sure, just it's best to assume they'll be here. So I'm reading all the villain month issues to see how well they do their job of drawing in new readers and now it's time for Count Vertigo to show me how great Green Arrow can be.
The Good:
So this issue was all origin and I think it did a pretty good job. Despite the whole "traumatic childhood" being a bit overdone for villains I think this issue does a pretty good job of keeping the whole thing interesting. The art is also pretty nice with some panels looking just fantastic. Vertigo also gets some nice development here and it's always nice to get in a villains head a bit and I'd like to think that's a major theme for villains month.
The Bad:
This issue doesn't really go much of anywhere, no set up, no foreshadowing I could spot, nothing but origin. It feels odd as there are bits of the story told in the present so I expected some hints of things to come, but there was nothing. Like I mentioned before Vertigo's origin felt a bit cliched and a lot of little moments in this comic are pretty predictable.
Overall:
I liked this issue and it made me want to check out more Green Arrow, so good job DC. If you're a fan of this series you'll enjoy this one, and if you're a Green Arrow fan who's on the fence about trying this series this issue seems to be a good one to check out.
