The Great Lakes Avengers has also been known as the Lightning Rods, Great Lakes X-Men, Great Lakes Defenders and the Great Lakes Champions since no one else was using that name at the time. However, they was never known as the Gay/Lesbian Alliance, though it's a common misbelief.
They are now part of the The Initiative as the Great Lakes Initiative, the official super-team of Wisconsin. Deadpool was recently made into a honorary member.
