The last stand of Jamie McCrimmon

I love Doctor Who. I love everything about Doctor Who. I love the old series and the new series. I love nearly everything that has ever been produced under the Doctor Who name, and this comic is no exception. The story deals with the Sixth Doctor and his companions Perri and Frobisher (a shape shifting penguin, god I love this series) arriving on a seemingly barren planet to discover a dying timelord who's last message to the doctor is "planet 14" something that the doctor remembers hearing once before during his second incarnation. To get to the bottom of the mystery, the Doctor goes to retrieve his old companion from those days (and one of my personal favorites) Jamie McCrimmon. Unfortunately the TARDIS miscalculates the coordinates and the Jamie they retrieve is now in his twilight years. Regardless Jamie is still rarin' to go and joins the doctor, meanwhile years before or after or... screw it, wibbly wobbly, timey wimey, two aliens arrive on the same planet that the Doctor just departed from with a device designed to accelerate time and evolution. However something goes wrong and the evolution of the brutal natives of the planet is accelerated by thousands of years, turning them into what they were destined to become, The Cybermen. The Cybermen plan to use the device, known as a world shaper, for their own evil purposes, but The Doctor and Jamie have none of it and kick some Cyber butt. The crowning moment of awesome comes when Jamie Plunges his sword into the heart of the world shaper while proudly proclaiming "For The Clan McCrimmon" and boldly sacrifices his life to thwart the Cybermen.

    What Works:

Pretty much everything, but especially the bits with Jamie. Jamie deserved a warriors death and now he has one. This is the sort of Doctor Who story I love to read.

    What Doesn't:

The logistics of how the Cybermen came into being sound like something out of a fanfiction and can be confusing, but hey that's Doctor Who for you, it's ridiculous and nonsensical and I just love it.

    Overall:

    5/5

Grant Morrison and Doctor Who are a match made in Heaven
