I'm not reading the series, but I keep hearing good things about his writing on the book.

Its a good comic, but the series went in a very Morrison direction after its debut issue, which somewhat took away from the fresher characterization of Superman and the promised focus on action and characters instead of pseudo science babbling plot. The story got convoluted very quickly, though I`m used to Morrison`s writing so I wasn`t exactly confounded by it, but it certainly made the series kind of a mess. The series could additionally use a balanced focus on character and plot progression as each attempt to establish Superman`s past and origin has fallen flat. Also, after the first four issues the main arc was put on hold for two filler issues (which were fun but equally confusing) which only added to the feeling that the series has quickly has gotten of the rails. Don`t get me wrong, its a good (and oftentimes fun) comic but I wish that Morrison would focus on Superman more than an increasingly confusing plot.

Good run. I love Morrison's writing. I'm kinda not feeling the artworks though. I feel the bonus Steel segments have waaaaaaaaay better artworks than the main section.

Very good, Grant Morrison was born to write Superman, so the characterization is great but there are times when it gets Morrison with some weirdness particularly a random 2 issue legion of superheroes/origin arc in the middle of the origins arc, the art goes from great to mediocre to bad and back on a regular basis. The backups are solid work.

this, i don't like how they deviated from the main story to tell that weird tale with the Legion.

To echo many other thoughts... it is certainly enjoyable. Good. Sometimes even great.

But to the Morrison standard of "epic scale mind blowing" that is usually associated... it isn't. It is Grant running a much more restrained work so far. (With an exception or two)

The good piece of that is that it has (and is less likely to have) alienated less readers who don't like the "Morrison crazy" style...

    But then again:

Recently it has gotten a lot more like the more epic amazing stuff he is capable of. It has been great and I am going to be sad when he leaves.

8 months ago I would have said absolutely. Today? I'd say... maybe. If you loved his JLA run and were at least okay with RIP, you should like this. If you disliked RIP... you might want to skip a beat or two. There is some really great stuff in this run... but I'd say it now falls between the range of JLA and RIP.
