He was soon to become the fourth Captain America and was eleven years old when the first Captain America was created. Edit
Throughout World War II, he idolised Captain America and was shocked to learn his death. In 1952, "Steve Rogers" graduated in American History doing a thesis on Captain America. In 1953, he travelled to Germany and examined the files of Major Kerfoot.
In those files, he discovered that the papers contained the original Super-Solider serum. He revealed this to some officials in the US government and they agreed he would become the new Captain America. He had his name changed to "Steve Rogers" and had plastic surgery done to him. He also had his voice changed to match that of the original Captain America.
He was to go into war Korean conflict, but it had finished before he was deployed. He was outraged and moved to Connecticut where he met Jack Monroe (Nomad) who also loved Captain America. Later, a terrorist who claimed to be Red Skull seized the United Nations and the delegates inside. Steve and Jack injeted themselves with Super-Soldier serum and saved the day.
However, without using the Vita-Ray process they both began to go insane attacking anyone who they thought were communist. They were captured by the FBI and put in suspended animation. They were released in the 1970s to be only captured again by the original Captain America, the Falcon and Sharon Carter.
"Steve Rogers" was brought into the custody of Doctor Faustaus who brainwashed him and became the Grand Director. He was then defeated by Captain America and Daredevil and commited suicide by triggering a device in his suit.
RETURN
Following the events of the Civil War, Steve Rogers was fatally shot by a brainwashed Sharon Carter. His death, and the chaos that followed, has all been expertly orchestrated by the Red Skull and his associates. Doctor Faustus was the mastermind behind Agent Carter's brainwashing and maintained near total control over her actions.
Struggling under Faustus' total control, Agent 13 was able exert her will sufficiently to free herself of his indoctrination. Her resolve was strengthened by learning that she was pregnant with Steve Rogers’s child.
Attempting to escape the Skull's lair Agent 13 discovered a body held is stasis. At first it appeared to be Steve Rogers and Agent 13 immediately set out to take him with her when she escaped.
Unfortunately when confronting "Rogers" she recognized significant burns along the left side of his body and immediately deduced that this was not her Captain America, but the Grand Director, seemingly saved from his apparent death. The Director seemed child-like and had no memory of his past. Agent 13 mercifully pulled her gun and was resolved to kill the Director when she was knocked out by Faustus and his men.
Faustus calmed the confused "Rogers" and soon began indoctrinating him. A short time later, the Grand director was now sitting in a room filled with video of the "new" Captain America, James "Bucky" Barnes. Dressed in the classic Captain uniform, the Director listened as Faustus slowly convinced him that he was the "real" Captain America and the this pretender had killed his former sidekick, the "Bucky" of the 1950's, Jack Monroe.
With vengeance in his eyes the man once known as the Grand Director, and now convinced to be Steve Rogers, Captain America, would soon be used once more to further the Red Skull's ambitions.
