I had an idea for a Godzilla reboot that I think would be pretty cool. It would be animated, which I think would make the fights more enjoyable and make anything possible. It portrays Godzilla as a villain rather than a hero. It uses monsters and characters from the movies but gives most of them new back stories. Here is the plot for the first movie, and basically the whole series:
Movie one: Godzilla's Wrath
The Earth itself seems to be shaking apart. Every country on Earth is periodically experiencing powerful earthquake-like effects that are leveling entire cities. The Global Defense Force, a world-wide military force with advanced technology, sends a team to investigate. They discover the point where the shaking is coming from is deep underneath Japan. They travel there and manage to get through all the lawlessness and disorder to the remote place where the shaking is coming from. They find a stone seal above the location and a group of cultists with magical powers that are surrounding it. After they take the team's weapons and use their magic to hold them captive they claim to be worshipers of Mothra and explain what is happening.
Long ago before mankind the Earth was home to great monsters. These monsters were led by two powerful gods. They were the Winged Goddess Mothra and her brother Battra. Mothra and Battra were both defenders of the Earth, but most monsters served one or the other. One day Mothra created a race of tiny creatures called Humans. These creatures all looked the same and could create fantastic things. Mothra wanted to let them populate the Earth and live alongside the monsters, but Battra wanted to enslave them and make them work for the monsters. This began the First War, the first violence the Earth ever saw. Mothra had more monsters than Battra, which gave her a big advantage. Humans were also helping her, and proved to be formidable foes. Battra was losing at first but the tides changed when he created his own creature, Godzilla. Battra had decided the humans were not fit to be slaves, and should be destroyed instead. Godzilla's main purpose was to destroy Mankind and all who stood in his way. Godzilla proved to be just as strong as his creator, and made short work of anything that tried to stop him. He had a deep hatred for Mothra and her allies, second only to his hate for Mankind. Battra soon discovered that his creation was just as uncontrollable as Mothra's when Godzilla started attacking his monsters as well. He made a truce with Mothra to stop Godzilla before he destroyed them all. The two gods managed to use their combined powers to lock Godzilla underground with a magic seal, but could not destroy him completely. Afterwards Battra was killed for his crimes against the Earth. His remaining forces were weakened after his death and locked underground with seals weaker, but similar to Godzilla's. Mothra and her monsters eventually disappeared into the Earth and left Mankind to take over. Now Godzilla is awake and trying to break his seal, and the cultists fear that they will fail to stop him. It could mean the end of the world.
The explorers try to contact the world’s leaders to tell them but before they can the shaking starts up again, worse than ever before. The cultists start to chant around the seal to keep it from breaking but this time it is too powerful. The seal disappears and the ground splits open, releasing Godzilla. The cultists transport the explorers to a magical place called Infant Island that can only be reached through magic. They say to find the Temple of Mothra and meet with their leaders, the Twin Fairies. The Twins are the only ones that can contact Mothra directly. They say to tell them that Godzilla is free and that they must call forth Mothra. The explorers fight through an alien jungle and battle many magical creatures before finding the temple and giving the Fairies their message. They use magic to tell everyone on Earth to chant Mothra's name and help them summon her. They send the explorers back to the mortal world and tell them to tell them to tell the GDF what they're up against. Godzilla attacks Tokyo and Mothra decends from the sky to stop him. The Goddess has been growing inh power in her absence but Godzilla's power is still too much for her. Before he can kill her she uses the last of her power paired with the energy of the Earth and the power of her Fairies to banish him to another realm. Mothra is very badly injured and begins to die, turning into dust. As the dust rises into the sky the Fairies are shown kneeling before a great yellow egg in the Temple of Mothra.
