Review: Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters #1
Godzilla returns to comics with a bang. With Eric Powell and Tracy Marsh writing the series and Phil Hester penciling it, I think we are in for something good.
THE GOOD:
One of the best things about this comic book was seeing Godzilla in something again. I haven't seen Godzilla in anything for a good while. I really like this issue because it takes into account that people may be barley starting learning about Godzilla. I feel that they are starting a new with a fresh new start. Phil Hester draws Godzilla perfectly to me and I loved the pannels because they aren't just your rettangles and squares. They make them interesting and I really enjoyed it. This issue had some great art and I'm glad to see Godzilla as more of a villian instead of a monster that does a happy dance.. when he wins a battle.
THE BAD:
I love Phil Hesters Godzilla, but his people could use a little detail (I acctually sometimes think that this gives the book feel diffrent and is sometimes quite enjoyable) . I think that his Godzilla makes up for this so it dosen't seem that bad.
THE VERDICT: 4.5/5 (Amazing)
I'm a huge fan of Godzilla, I have every movie of his and I really enjoyed reading him in a comic book because I love comics a lot. I'm really excited about what is going to happen in this series. I have seem the covers of issue to come and there are Rodian and Angirus so I'm happy about seeing some more monsters coming to the series. Anyone that cares about Godzilla shoud gets this. Anyone who likes reading a good comic should get this!
