It's Godzilla for a new age! The giant green beast is reintroduced into this world by was of a reboot. Godzilla shows up in Tokyo and the Japanese try what they can to stop him! The Good It's the reintroduction to Godzilla! What's not to love? Timing aside, the return of the King of Monsters to the world of sequential art is one that should be heralded. Headed by a dynamite creative team, does Gojira make a strong first impression? The Folly of Man The story in this Godzilla adaptation is much the same as it is most every Godzilla iteration; the dreaded reptilian beast rises from the shores of Japan and proceeds to go on a rampage. Godzilla returns to comics with a bang. With Eric Powell and Tracy Marsh writing the series and Phil Hester penciling it, I think we are in for something good. THE GOOD: One of the best things about this comic book was seeing Godzilla in something again. I haven't seen Godzilla in anything for a good while. I really like this issue because it takes into account that people may be barley starting learning about Godzilla. I feel that they are starting a new with a fresh new start. Many comic book shops got variants with their own store being crushed on the cover, which I drew me to the comic. It's a great gimmick. However, inside the comic I found to be lacking. Nothing effectively happens in the issue, and there are no characters developed at all. Nuclear weaponry is used with no real consideration, and the comic effect of many different characters, at different times, saying "you have to be %$@#ing me" didn't seem funny to me in the slightest.
