    Classic Godzilla Fun

Story- On the shore of Monster Island, a man finds himself being chased by gangsters who mean to kill him. While he is trying to escape his assailants, he finds that there is far more to fear on Monster Island than some thugs. Flashbacks show us how the man came to be in this situation, and after a short tussle between Godzilla and another monster, the man is found by some of the natives of the island. The man then seizes an opportunity and steals something of great power that he hopes to use for his own benefits.

Overall- This comic was just plain fun. Getting to see Monster Island is great and quite a change of pace from the ongoing Godzilla series. There is humor here, but it does not always land well. Compared to the ongoing Godzilla series I would have to say that the ongoing is doing a better job at the humor so far, but there is still time for this mini to crank up the humor.

The Best - Getting to see all of the monsters on Monster Island was classic. It made me feel like I had popped in one of my old VHS tapes of Godzilla. Godzilla's short tussle with another monster is exactly what you expect to see happening on Monster Island.

The Worst- This book can be read in a matter of minutes, it is very short and did not even take me ten minutes. While that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it does sting when you think that this was a four dollar book.

This is a "Snakes on a Plane" kind of comic in that I'm sure most comic readers have a pretty good idea whether they are going to enjoy it without needing to look inside.  This was a no-brainer purchase for me because I'm a giant Godzilla fan, but if you're on the fence, hopefully this short description of the first issue will swing you:   SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content. In this comic, a heroic police officer who is about to be executed by gangsters escapes to monster island...
