When the Dean family saw that one of their unborn twins would be a deformed mutant, they treated the embryo like a cancer and tried to destroy it using concentrated X-rays. When only a single child, Luara, was born, they thought they had succeeded, but they were unaware that Laura was also a mutant and had transported her sister into an alternate dimension, where she grew up as a wild animal.
When the withdrawn and autistic Laura was detected as a mutant and inducted into the Derangers, she used her power to switch places with her feral sister whenever she was in danger. Eventually, it was discovered that they were two separate individuals instead of one shapeshifter
and Goblyn was released from the DreamQueen's world.
