Origin

Janet Van Dyne was born into the rich Van Dyne Family. Her Father Vernon Van Dyne owned a very large and successful company that dealt with hi-tech equipment.

Janet always wanted to help people but due to her roots whenever she tried doing anything to help people less fortunate then her, the media would harass her. Her salvation came in the form of an Employee Dr Hank Pym.

Hank, who always had a soft corner in his heart for Janet, and who realised her potentials, created a serum her called Pym Particles. Originally he thought that they could only make someone smaller. But when the company was attacked by Hydra agents Janet used the Pym particles to increase her size and easily subdue the attack.

After that Hank created Janet a suit that came with a mask that hid her identity from people. But he also gave her the means to communicate with insects in the form of artificial antennas. Soon after that Janet joined the Avengers.

Significant Stories

Janet's antennas proved to be her weakness when an insectoid alien race called the Psyclops attacked. They were able to use these antennas to take control of Janet to do their bidding. But eventually these antennas were forcefully removed by Wolverine and she gained control.

Unfortunately during her mindless rampage her mask was removed and the public learned of her identity. But she was soon given a new costume that removed the mask and antennas.

Also Janet has been the romantic interest to Erik Josten but she has disagreed with his obsession with her since she has feelings for Hank. This led to a giant sized brawl between the two.

Recently Janet has upgraded her costume once again allowing her to shrink to wasp size while growing wings and gaining bio blasts. She used these abilities while helping Spider-Woman and Beast fight Hydra.

Powers

Giant girl is able to change her size at will. She usually increases her size to an unknown proportion. She has grown large enough to catch an entire school. But it is also possible for her to shrink. It has been mentioned but she has never used these powers. While enlarged she has enhanced strength. Also she can change the size of inanimate objects through touch. She can also shrink to wasp size and grow wings and gain bio-blasts (only while tiny).
