G.I. Robot is a mechanical soldier, also known as the Jungle Automatic Killer Experimental (JAKE).
There have been two G.I. Robots.
The first, JAKE 1, was active in World War II.
When he was destroyed, JAKE 2 replaced him. It was recently revealed in the Batman Confidential story arc that JAKE 2 was created by LexCorp for the U.S. military.
Jake 1 first appeared in Star Spangled War Stories issue # 101 (February/March 1962) by Robert Kanigher & Ross Andru, and was continued by Robert Kanigher & Joe Kubert from #125. His final story arc, ending in his destruction and replacement by JAKE 2, ran in Weird War Tales # 101-113 by Robert Kanigher & Pepe Morino Casaras.
