    Winter is coming

I believe that everyone that has internet or access to TV (and other mediuns), even for just a glimpse, have heard about this global hit that is George R. R. Martin's book called "Songs of Ice and Fire", which first volume called "A Game of Thrones" was adapted for a tv series by HBO and now renders the scene to a comic book. I'm not going to stand here and praise the book or the series, instead I'll try to deliver the basics here, just trying to capture some soul interested in, perhaps, the best fantasy thing happening since The Lord of the Rings. This series is about their characters and you bet that Martin has developed an intricated and expressive universe, populated by the most interesting and diverse types of people: from those that holds honor as their best asset to those who are only interested in power and grandeur, so it´s a very timeless narrative. Every adaptation comes with innerent challenges, specially when it's about dissecting and selecting words, dialogues and scenes from a writer that can easily be described as a man obsessed with details and deepening every moment, meaning, he loves description and capturing everything as possible from a page, so you can imagine the level of difficulty that screams out of such endeavor. After saying that I must admit that Abrahams (who already adapted Martin's book for a comic book, called Wildcards) has done a terrific job in this first issue, keeping the pace fast but not neglecting the presentation and characterization of important characters, such as Ned Stark, his children and Daenerys Targaryen, while tooking the proper time to explain a little about the elements of this universe. Tommy Patterson did a great job, really holding things together, terrific story tellilng. Unfortunatelly, I must be honest, this comes much easier for those already in touch with the series (the TV show or the novels), but this doesn´t mean it's an impossible barrier to breach, so I'm praising all the fantasy comic books lovers to reach out and try this book, even if you don't feel so thrilled about issue # 1 I promise you that things will heat up, not matter what the title of this review suggests!
