Gentleman Ghost is a 19th century ghost with a grudge against Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

History

Craddock grew up in the 1800's in England. His mother was poor, and he lived in poverty. He became greedy and a robber.

He went to the United States where he was falsely accused of  violence and killed by Nighthawk, a masked cowboy.

Craddock found out he would remain a ghost until the spirit of who murdered him moved on to "the next plane of existence." He also finds out that Nighthawk is actually a incarnation of ancient Egyptian royalty whose souls will not ever pass on.

After he discovers that he can't truly kill Hawkman (Nighthawk's reincarnation), Gentleman Ghost starts annoying a big number of superheroes, just for fun.

During the events of Infinite Crisis, Gentleman Ghost joins Alexander Luthor's Secret Society and attacks Metropolis with other criminals, without knowing that the attack is Alexander's plan in order to distract the world's superheroes from his real goal. In the battle he fights Alan Scott, the 1st Green Lantern, and wins, leaving Scott in a coma.

After the defeat of Alexander and Superboy-Prime, Gentleman Ghost plans to takes the souls of the superheroes who died in the Infinite Crisis and creates an army of ghosts, trying to conquer the world. But Wildcat, a member of the Royal Family, and Stargirl, who is a virgin, stopped him, and Gentleman Ghost disappears. However, he later appears as one of the villains sent to retrieve the Get Out of Hell Free Card from the Secret Six.
