Gen 13 is an X-Men inspired super group created by Jim Lee and drawn by J. Scott Campbell. The group consists of five teens, led by their mentor John Lynch. Edit
Gen 13 is a team of teenage superheroes published by Wildstorm that calls Earth-50 in the DC Multiverse their home. They are the thirteenth generation of gen-active (superhuman) humans that are "created" by a government operation called Internatinal Operations through their Project.
International Operations started a "government internship" for gifted youths. It took place in an isolated training facility. When one of the students named Caitlin Fairchild's powers manifested, she escaped the complex along with Roxy Spaulding, Grunge, and Threshold. They were later joined by two other students, Sarah Rainmaker and Burnout. The project was revealed to be a gathering of the gen-active progeny of Team 7 (Gen 12) their previse superhuman team. Threshold was revealed to have tricked the group and was loyal to the IO all this time. He captured the all the team except for Fairchild, who had to return to base to help free the other kids, but upon their return they were apprehended for further testing. However with the help of Pitt and John Lynch, they escaped. The group retreated to La Jolla, California, and officially formed the group Gen¹³ since they were the 13th group of government superheroes. They opposed IO and their counterpart team DV8. The team spent a lot of time learning of the past of Team 7 to learn more about themselves. Fairchild and Freefall discovered they were half-sisters and John Lynch had been revealed as Burnout's father. Freefall and Grunge began to date, while Rainmaker revealed herself to be bisexual (previously thought to be a lesbian). The team was caught in an explosion of a 6 megaton bomb and all the team was thought to have died. Fairchild was able to survive and taught a new team of Gen¹³ kids, taking Lynch's role. However, it was revealed this team existed in an alternate reality which was similar to the mainstream Wildstorm universe except for its point of divergence, when the kids were caught in the explosion. At the end of volume 2, the original Gen¹³ team was revealed to be alive and, after a little time-travel to avoid the detonation that 'killed' them, the group returned to the mainstream Wildstorm universe.
Worldstorm
In early 2006, Wildstorm brought all its in-continuity comics since WildC.A.T.s #1, to an end. The universe's finale came in the form of the crossover miniseries Captain Atom: Armageddon. Following the conclusion of this limited series, the entire Wildstorm line was relaunched with "Worldstorm." Along with the rebooted versions of Wildcats, The Authority, etc., came a new Gen¹³ series. The entire world has had a "soft reset", the surroundings are mostly familiar, but there are changes throughout. In the first arc, the future Gen¹³ are taken away from their homelives. It is revealed that their parents have been assigned to raise the children to encourage the emergence of specific personality traits. In different areas of the country, Caitlin Fairchild, Roxy Spaulding, Grunge, Bobby Lane, and Sarah Rainmaker wake up, each wearing a uniform recognized by their parents. Strike teams immediately attempt to capture the kids; many of their foster parents are terminated.
