Gates is a comic book character that first appeared in Legion of Super-Heroes (1989) #66
The only member of Legion of Super-Heroes who joined their ranks not voluntary but was forced by his planet's government.
The insectoid native of Vyrga was "drafted" into the Legion of Super-Heroes, even though he thought of the team as a "teenage death squad". His ability to create disks that can teleport people was a great asset to the team.
