What's up with that metal armor Gambit wears on his lower legs? I kinda looks like his legs were chopped off from the knees down and replaced with cyborg prosthetics.

He plays Soccer on his days off and wants to be prepared.

Well, their not. More likely their there to protect his shins because he uses them in close combat when fighting with his staff"

Depends on who is swinging the stick at you.  I have a friend who has an 8 year old that plays.  I saw him play and if I had to play him I would want a whole suit of armor.

If I had to venture a guess I'd say its more for offense. He's a master of Savate ( a French based form of Kickboxing or Footfighting). A shin could do some serious damage alone, now imagine if it was covered with steel/adamantium/vibranium etc etc. You'd cave someones face in."

I think he wears leg armour because Rogue is always kicking him in the shins. No seriously it's to protect his legs when doing arial combat moves :)
