Galactus can teleport entire galaxies, and he can detect planets that he wants to consume with his cosmic awareness (if I understand correctly). Why doesn't he just teleport planets to himself, or extract the energy from them with his cosmic telekinesis? This would make him never weakened, and almost unstoppable.

Why does he not do this? Could he even do this, or am I wrong? If I'm wrong, why?

    Thanks guys :)

The plot never calls for such things to happen.

Because he's smaller than the planet, so bringing him to the planet obviously takes less energy than bringing the planet to him. Extracting the energy telekinetically is probably something he can't do. The process is likely considerably more complicated than "teleport energy away."

He has teleported entire galaxies before. I think he can handle teleporting a few planets to his general vicinity. And then he could probably eat them, or store them in another dimension for him to visit whenever he wants to snack. Also he can just teleport himself to the planets, so either way, it should be no problem for him. He can sense planets with his cosmic awareness probably

Because he'd get bored if he was just sitting around doing nothing. Might sound like an over simplistic answer but think about all the things that have been done out of boredom, the Wright brothers got bored with bikes so they invented the air plane, Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity because he had nothing better to do at the time. There have been billions of innovations and inventions made for no other reason than a guy got bored and thought up a new way to do something.

Galactus flat out makes no sense. How can the earth heroes stop him? Why does he ever try again once he's failed and just move on to easier planet's?

The same reason he uses his technology to absorb the planets energies: because he doesn't want to use energy to consume energy. Galactus uses practically no energy flying on his ship to other planets. Everything he consumes he keeps for himself. Because of the time between his hunger, he can afford to do this. If he teleported planets to himself, he would need to consume more planets than he does now, and deep down Galactus is not without conscience.

Galactus is just a idiotic plot device. His powers look like they were created by a 10 year old.

@AweSam: Galactus's origin, last I checked, was that he was a normal dude named Galen on a normal planet at the end of his universe. It was compressing into some kind of Egg that would become the Big Bang. He took a ship into it, and got folded into it as his universe vanished. When the Big Bang went down, and the universe we know was created, he popped out as Galactus.

@AweSam: Mythology is full of stories of gods doing a wide variety of stuff just to entertain themselves. The quest to not be bored guided like 90% of Zeus' actions in mythology.

Yeah, mythology. If he's bored, create a universe. He should be able to. He can apparently destroy something that's infinite.

I think he is just the laziest guy of all times....sure he could teleport planets to him, but...nope.

It is like you chilling in a mobile-bed (his ship) and when your hungry some guys (his heralds) seek out for the next supermarket/fastfood (the planets)...your bed takes you there and then a machine makes the food roll right into your mouth.

Man...Galactus is not only the laziest but also the coolest guy of all times. :-D

The thing about Galactus is that although he is a conceptual being, he is still under jurisdiction of the The Living Tribunal. Remember this as well, Galactus is a function for the universe for the slow end of this universe and the beginning of the next Big Bang. So transporting galaxies for his own function is pointless and has repercussions.
