Since Galactus is the famed devourer of planets, it's no surprise that he and Ego, "the Living Planet" did not get along. Early on Ego, assisted by Thor (Vol. 1:160,161), was able to send Galactus packing. Later Galactus would use Thor as a diversion (Vol. 1:226-228), so that he could jam a propulsion unit into the planet and send it into exile.
