Each issue contains two stories from different creators and can be downloaded through an iPad app or as a PDF from the Double Feature website for $0.99. The story originated as a concept for a book featuring Marvel Comics' Black Widow and other characters, but changed as it developed into an original piece.
At the 2011 New York Comic-Con, it was announced that Rick Remender would be taking over the writing reins for Secret Avengers and Gabriel Hardman would be joining him as the artist on the book. Issue #21.1 of the series will see Remender begin writing duties, and February's #22 will be the first issue with Hardman on pencils.
