This is my first time actually starting a thread here, I stick to Giant Bomb because arguing about superheroes scares me! Anyway, with the announcement of the "Future Foundation" and the new comic series, how long do you expect this to last? It seems mad to kill off the Fantastic Four just like that and start anew but maybe it was for the best?

    What're your thoughts?

Also, does this basically mean they're Marvel's JLA?

@riotbananas: Marvel's JLA is the Avengers.

But it is supposed to last a year or so I think. At least that's what someone told me.

As long as sales are up for this comic, after this there just won't be any FF for a while and then they return with the resurrection of Johnny Storm.

I think it will last a little while. There has been speculation, based on what Marvel tends to do with every popular book, that it will go until they can claim a Fantastic Four #600. So that would be less than a year.

@jloneblackheart: Yeah, that's was I was thinking as well, but I hope this book excedes my expectations, and doesn't get changed back to Fantastic Four just in time for issue #600, along with the timely return of the Human Torch.

Wouldn't be great if Marvel would focus more on storyline instead of marketing ploys?  I just hope Hickman has breathing room to tell the story he wants to tell, without pressure from management.  If that means the Human Torch doesn't get to grace the pages of FF for a couple of years so be it.  Then his "death" would actually mean something.

@frogjitsu: I always like stories more than marketing ploys. All my favorite Marvel books are the $2.99 price point. I hope Johnny stays gone a while to, or maybe even indefinitely. I still get the gut feeling he's not dead and he'll show up later, somehow corrupted by Annihilus and as an enemy of the Four.

How long does anything last in the Marvel Universe?  At most a year until the "next big crisis cross-over that will change everything!"

By the way, this whole thing familiar to anyone?  A scientific organization of the greatest human minds promoting a better future through technology, wearing white and black uniforms with hexagonal logos?  I think the boys at Marvel have been playing a little too much Mass Effect 2.
