King Samson has turned Wonder Woman to silver, using the transformative power of the Silver Ghost's gauntlet. The Human Bomb comes up with a plan to restore Wonder Woman to normal, using her Lasso of Truth, which has also been turned to silver. The Human Bomb attacks King Samson. While King Samson is recovering from the Human Bomb's attack, the Phantom Lady ties the Lasso of Truth around King Samson's gloved hand. King Samson lunges at the Phantom Lady, but passes through her immaterial form. The Human Bomb strikes King Samson again. The Human Bomb strikes King Samson's gloved fist.

The energy released by the impact travels down the conduit of the Lasso of Truth to Wonder Woman, restoring her to normal. King Samson severs the connection. The backlash feeds into Uncle Sam, and Wonder Woman, then jumps to the corpse of the Silver Ghost, restoring the Silver Ghost to life. Carrying Wonder Woman, Uncle Sam withdraws from the fight. The District Attorney, David Pearson, introduces a reporter, Martha Roberts, to the Black Condor, the Doll Man and the Ray. The Doll Man is astonished to see Roberts, whose parallel counterpart, on Earth X, had been his girlfriend. That Roberts had perished.

Seeing the living Roberts fills the Doll Man with angst. Roberts interviews the three heroes. The Ray reveals that they were forced to commit criminal acts, at the behest of the Silver Ghost, to save the lives of half their team. The Human Bomb, the Phantom Lady, Uncle Sam and Wonder Woman, were attempting to apprehend the Silver Ghost's henchman, King Samson, to corroborate their story, and prove their innocence. Unfortunately, Wonder Woman was transformed into silver, by King Samson, in the attempt, an act Pearson plans to hold the Freedom Fighters responsible. The Doll Man sees the resurrected Silver Ghost.

The Black Condor, the Doll Man and the Ray, break out of jail. Uncle Sam stands vigil over Wonder Woman. The Human Bomb and the Phantom Lady continue the battle with King Samson. The Silver Ghost uses his telekinetic power, over his gauntlet, to transform King Samson to silver. The Silver Ghost reveals himself to the Human Bomb, and the Phantom Lady, then attacks them. The rest of the Freedom Fighters join the battle against the Silver Ghost. Pearson arrives, with the police. The Freedom Fighters fight their way to freedom. In the ensuing melee, the Silver Ghost escapes. Pearson files new charges against the Freedom Fighters, including the murder of Wonder Woman. A charge he must drop, when Wonder Woman presents herself, alive and well, to Pearson. On the run, the Freedom Fighters vow to find the Silver Ghost, before the authorities find them.
