A very fun book
I've been loving everything Jeff Lemire has done with Frankenstein and S.H.A.D.E. since the very beginning, and so I went into reading this issue with a bit of trepidation because of the creative change. However, I was pleasantly surprised after reading, as Matt Kindt does an awesome job of keeping the book crazy, weird and so much fun. Lemire did this so well for 9 issues, so much so that Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. has become one of my favorite books to read every month, and to know that the book is still in good hands is very comforting. In fact, I'm now excited to see what Kindt can do with Frank and the rest of the cast and how he can put his own spin on the series without changing the core qualities of it.
The art is great, too. Ponticelli draws an awesome Frank and the supporting cast all look good, too. The Scare-Abs, are approriately drawn for being giant insect assassins and there are a few really nice scenes in the opening pages that showcase Ponticelli's knack for drawing Frank in close-quarters combat. And about halfway through the book, there's an amazing double page spread that showcases the strange and geometrically distorted city of Untropolis that will solidify the readers belief in Ponticelli's pencils.
This is probably a perfect jumping-on point for new readers, too, which is always a good thing. If you're into zany things, crazy, action packed stories, a fan of Frank from the Secret 7 days (I'm all three!), then please, do yourself a favor, and pick up this book!
