Probably my favorite comic writer along with Alan Moore. Love his Dark Knight and Sin City stuff, but my favorite work of his is the Elektra Assassin series. Total head trip.

I'd be more into Alan Moore's stuff if he didn't act like such a control-freaky neo-hippy aristocrat. With all that beard and all those rings, he's like a walking talking D&D character. Also, am I the only one that thinks his serious, academic hard-on for his Lost Girls porno comic is just creepy?

Still, much love for Top 10. I'm saddened he puts such great effort into creating believable worlds and interesting characters only to abandon them after a few outings.

Still looking forward to it, though."

Looks pretty amazing to me. The movie doesn't even need dialogue, it just needs that dude yelling SPARTA!!!!

Dude, Alan Moore's gonna be on the Simpsons. Wonder if he'll stay throughout the episode or walke out in protest.

Frank Miller? Where's the next All Star Batman And Robin? I'm wondering if it's really 'cause of Jim Lee or if he's too busy with Sin City 2.

Yeah that makes sense but what I'm getting at is if he (or Jim Lee) can't keep up with their commintment, mabye they shouldn't spread themselves so thin. If he is too busy with the movie, he should give up All Star Batman and Robin (have you read any of it? WTF??) I just think it reflects poorly on the creators. If it is Jim Lee's fault, he's not looking so hot. He did one issue of WildCATS and the second won't be out unitl March. That's just crazy. I can barely remember what happened in the last B and R.

And actually I think I'd rather have a popsicle right now. My throat's starting to get sore. I can't imagine what gas would cost for the spaceship.

Comic writers? Not fulfilling their committments/overextending themselves? I am shocked! Appalled, even! When will DC and Marvel learn they need to impose serious penalties on writers who can't keep up? Damon Lindelof, Kevin Smith, Jim Lee, Brian Hitch (understandable), I'm looking at you! People in other industries don't get away with this crap. Why do they?

Also, I think Frank Miller can be great, but he's also got his flaws. I really only know him from his Batman stuff, but I think that, for the most part, DKR deserves all the respect it gets. The only problem is the fact that it was instrumental in creating the psychotic Bat-Jerk of recent years and has led many people to think Batman isn't allowed to have a sense of humor or smile. But DKR and Year One are fantastic comics. And...then you get to DKSA and ASBARTBW, and you wonder what the Hell he's thinking anymore...

When it comes to creators like Smith, Heinberg, etc., the comic publishers should seriously consider waiting until the project is finished before even leaking word to the fans that the book is coming, much less before even soliciting the book. What's frustrated me about lateness on books is here we have creators who have a reputation for taking a long time or being perpetually late. So, why frustrate your customers by promising them something that takes forever to come out?

As for the subject of this thread, eh, Miller's one of those creators that I really don't have much of an opinion for or against. I don't dislike them as much as I dislike Chuck Austen Brian Michael Bendis or Grant Morrison, but I don't like Miller as much as I like JMS, Geoff Johns, Neil Gaiman, or Alan Moore.

Miller revolutionized Batman and Daredevil, two of the most awesome characters around. I actually prefer him to Alan Moore.

Long time lurker, first time poster. But c’mon, Frank Miller’s Sin City was awesome. I had to step in and ask: why would anyone be sarcastic? Geez.

Incidentally, for the other actual fans out there, Atomic Avenue is giving away Frank Miller’s own copies of comics for free. You have to sign up for their system, but as far as I can tell you don’t need to buy anything, just answer comic questions. I’m so signing up and thought I’d pass it along for anyone else.

Frank Miller's writing is amazing! I've read a lot of his work.

I love his original run or Daredevil. It's the best.

Batman Year One and 300 were also very good.

He's great at layouts but his rendering sucks. I was reading and The Dark Knight Returns a month ago and thinking "this is the worst highly praised penciling I've ever seen."

I enjoy Frank Miller's Sin City series. And his Daredevil run was strong. Also liked Batman: Year One. I might be the only person in the world who thinks The Dark Knight Returns is a steaming pile of crapola, though. And "All Star Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder" is similarly terrible. But I can't hate the guy, because Sin City is just so good.

You're just trying to be provocative.  Frank Miller:
    • Made Bullseye a real villain in Daredevil 181
    • Wrote The Dark Knight Returns
    • Wrote Sin City
    • Wrote 300
Those sorts of credits alone make put him at a top tier of comic book writers.

Dare Devil, Sin City, Dark Knight Returns and Dark Knight Strikes Again are freaking awesome.
